Courtney Motz

Hi! My name is Courtney Motz and I am based in Indianapolis, IN. I started riding horses competitively at five years old and have never looked back. My passion for horses only grew, from cleaning stalls and running pony camp to competing at Junior Hunter Finals on the same mare I took on Hunter Paces. I was recruited to ride for TCU on their NCEA Equestrian Team where I spent a year as the manager and two years as the team captain. I graduated from TCU with a major in Advertising and Public Relations and a minor in Psychology. After graduation, I worked for Jim Austin Online an online media company selling advertisements, creating websites, running multiple social media campaigns and organizing events such as monthly networking mixers and a golf tournament.

In 2016, I got the itch to get back into horses and took a job barn managing and assistant training for Abby Blankenship of Three Ships LLC in Indianapolis. Over time, I took over the barn's digital marketing manager role as well, taking care of the website, social media, online horse sales and sponsorships. In November 2020, I decided to take a step back from the everyday barn managing and training to solely focus on growing the online presence of both Three Ships LLC and other farms. In addition, I have taken up photography to offer as an additional service to clients. As a self-taught photographer, I look up to so many amazing photographers in the equestrian industry.

Anyone who knows me that the fall is when I come alive; not because of the weather, but because of football. I'm a huge college and professional football fan so don't mess with my TCU Horned Frogs and Cincinnati Bengals! I've taken that second passion for football and combined it with my love for photography and media, picking up high school football clients to photograph and guide through the NCAA recruiting process..

I'm a huge supporter of the NCEA and recently was awarded the 2023 NCEA Distinguished Alumni Award in the Media and Communications category for TCU. I'm honored to support College Equestrian as I am so grateful for the opportunities that my school and coaches opened up for me. To this day, I freelance ride and teach because let's be honest, once you're a horse person, you're always a horse person.
